New Patient FAQs

What ages do you accept?

We currently accept patients from birth until 12 years old. Once children turn 13, they will be graduated. We have a list of wonderful, like-minded family practice providers to share with you upon graduation for continued care.

What insurances do you accept?

We are in-network with Delta Dental as a Premier provider. For all other insurance plans, we will collect our office fees in full at the time of the visit. After the visit, we can submit the claim to your insurance as a courtesy and the amount they reimburse will be mailed back directly to you.

What materials do you use?

Pumice: we use a plain, fine pumice paste for our cleanings, free from artificial dyes and flavors, additives, and fluoride.

Fillings Materials: We use Admira Fusion material, an all-ceramic-based filling material

Sealants Materials: We use Admira Fusion material, an all-ceramic-based flowable material

Other Materials:

  • We are a Latex-free office
  • We offer alternatives to Fluoride, like Hydroxyapatite, Ozone, and an Oral Microbiome Rest Program.

Should I be concerned about X-Rays and Radiation?

We offer digital x-rays at our office, which offer the lowest radiation possible, and we strictly follow the principles of ALARA or “As Low As Reasonably Achievable” when prescribing radiographs to our patients. We are open to working with families on minimizing radiation exposures, but this must be discussed in-person after we determine what your child’s bioindividual oral healthcare needs are.

We will need periodic x-rays to assess and diagnose your child properly. Without them, we can miss: bone loss, infections and abscesses, cavities, cysts, impacted teeth, boney lesions, missing teeth, extra teeth, orthodontic alignment and spacing concerns, TMJ issues, jaw asymmetry, sinus pathologies and anomalies, and more.

This image often helps people better understand how much radiation you are truly exposed to at the dentist…it is far less than one may expect. Please share your concerns with us, and we will talk them through. We have a wonderful post-x-ray detox protocol that we can share as well. Common Sources of Radiation

Do you accept Out-of-State or Out-of-Country Patients?

We do accept patients from out-of-state and from other countries, but unfortunately, we no longer offer virtual consults. If wishing to come to Bloom from afar, we will set your child up with an initial consultation. If they have additional needs, we will work with you to schedule them to have their needs addressed at a separate appointment. Please email us info@bloomkidsdentistry.com for more information.

Do you offer Airway and Frenectomy Consultations?

We currently only offer frenectomy procedures for older children (1 years old and above) for active patients of record, but only after a referral from a Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist (OMFT) or Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). We are accepting referrals for newborns and babies from IBCLCs

With babies, we offer same-day consultations and release procedures, but only after we receive a referral from an IBCLC.

Older children (who are patients of record) will be scheduled for their releases, but only after we receive a referral from an OMFT or SLP telling us that your child is ready for their release. Once we receive that referral, we will schedule you in a timely manner for the release procedure.

We do offer “Airway Consultations” for non-patients of families that feel lost and overwhelmed on their child’s airway journey. We offer help with a proper assessment, diagnosis, and where to begin. We have endless resources, referrals, and support to offer you and work with only the best of the best in the Portland Metro area. Think of us as the Guide on your child’s Airway Journey.

We offer early Oral Rehabilitation Appliances like Myomunchee and Myobrace systems, as well as “getting back to nasal breathing” strategies and recommendations, helping you get to the root cause of your child’s issues.

Airway issues take a team approach and can become overwhelming quickly. We can act as the orchestrator, quarterback, and support system for you. Please email us  info@bloomkidsdentistry.com for more details.
